Hot Tub Installation: Important Things to Know

Installing New Hot Tub Backyard

If you have already bought your hot tub from Wind River Spas and you are making arrangements for the installation, here are some very important things that you should know about:

  • Hot tubs need to be installed on a perfectly level surface – even the slightest denivelation can hinder the operation of your hot tub;
  • Your floor might need reinforcement – hot tubs are heavy pieces of equipment, so the flooring on which they are installed need to be able to support that weight safely. In some cases, a concrete pad needs to be added, in others, composite slabs, gravel or stone pavers make better solutions;
  • Clearance – you need to have clearance of at least one foot between the tub and any other structure on each side of your tub. You should also have enough space to safely access the tub’s electrical panels for maintenance and repairs;
  • The proximity to a water supply point – the water in hot tubs needs to be replaced regularly, therefore it is very important to figure out how you will have access to a water supply point for your tub;
  • Electrical requirements – most hot tubs use 240 V and 50-60 AMP circuit breakers. To make sure your tub is connected correctly, turn to a certified electrician to handle the connection.
